We have preferred the first and began to learn to play tools. Thus, we have found rescue from the boredom reigning in a city in music”.

The group in which played Mettju Bells, was called Carnage Mayham, and it was there the keyboard player. By then he has already learnt to play a piano, and is absolutely independent. Мэтт gets acquainted with Chris Volstenholmom somewhere in the beginning 90 when to both of them was approximately for 12-13 years. At that time Chris played on shock in group under name Fixed Penalty. At that time Matthew starts to write seriously own songs which while were not necessary to anybody. Remained together, they understand that they need to search for the bass guitarist. And it is. Matthew for a long time knew Chris as the serious and responsible young man, therefore they decide to invite him to play to their group on a bass guitar. And, in spite of the fact that Chris played drums, he agrees, and becomes the bass player future Muse.

The new group begins rehearsals. They basically play covers of different known groups, such as Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, The Senceless Things, Nirvana, etc. If they play something the at them the punk turns out. One winter day in February, 1994 in a small town of Tejnmut in the south of England passed competition under name Battle of the Bands. It passed in sports centre Broadmedow, and represented, probably, something like ours “Factory of Stars” regional level. In competition some groups took part basically playing pop and funk pop, something of type Jamiroquai, but there was also one really rock group, and it was called Rocket Baby Dolls. In comparison with other participants, they could not brag of excellent possession of tools, at that time they yet were not good musicians and knew it. They have come on competition to lose, at them it was not simple chances. But they have tried to make everything that could, using that circumstance that felt “others”.

Rocket Baby Dolls have stepped on the stage, covered with a Gothic make-up, and have played a cover-version of song Nirvana “Tourette”, and also a quantity of the low-standard melodious punk of own composition written specially for a concert. After leaving school of Mett leaves in travel across Europe. Producer John Leki (Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Stone Roses, John Lennon, Verve, Simple Minds, XTC) shows not passing interest, but the plate is badly reviewed, and break has not occurred. But now they can start to win hearts of fans of music not only native Devon, but also all world, after all circulation of their first creation – the whole 999 copies…

Muse persistently developed the prompt sounding, a passionate cocktail from a majestic vocal, guitars tearing a body on the atoms, suddenly varying mood and special bewitching atmosphere of an emotional unbalance, and gradually their popularity began to extend steadily. In November Muse takes off for New York to play at festival CMJ where them have invited.

The group signs the contract with label Maverick in States. But on it the group has not stopped, and Muse have preferred to sign under the contract in everyone “critical” for musical industry to the country. So Naive agrees to let out their records in France, Motor – in Germany, and Mushroom Records becomes their English record-company. Mettju Bells so explains this decision: “When the English group signs the international contract, its music is sent on a world’s end to people, by concepts not having that it from herself represents. If our music gets to people who never were at our concert or simply hate our records how they will sell it? Ourselves have chosen all firms at international level, and in each country are those who simply adores us. We for them – a priority. Therefore on the world we also are presented so ideally”.

In January of 1999 there is one more EP groups Muscle Museum which becomes the second release of group on Dangerous before the international contracts come into force. It includes 2 versions of a header composition, and as “Sober”, “Uno”, “Unintended” and “Instant Messenger”. The majority of songs of an album have already passed to run on public during concert performances, and Muse have decided to keep power of live sounding as much as possible. On Showbiz the sound was rather heaped up, with a considerable quantity of various tools and imposings. On Origin of Symmetry the group has wanted to achieve as much as possible powerful sounding, but trio sounding, instead of “chorus with an orchestra”. For this Mettju has specially met guitar technician Toma Morello from Rage Against The Machine since the Volume was famous for the ability to take is more tremendous sated and powerful soundtrack. On September, 22nd Muse have gone to Russia on celebrations concerning opening of the Russian version of magazine NME and has given the first concert in Moscow. After that the group has gone to the European tour and has given 29 concerts. After a small respite since April, 2002 the new round mainly consisting of festivals and concerts in the countries for which not enough attention has been found during the basic round has begun. Having informed on it, Matt smiles and not without pride nods. But then suddenly recollects: “Wait! Yesterday I indeed played a fragment a concert from Rakhmaninov. Since November, 2002 Muse have again begun to go in studio together with producers John Kornfildom and Polom Rivom (John Cornfield, Paul Reeve). It was initially planned to write down an album cheering up with powerful orchestral support. However there were some events in which result all has strongly changed. Formally, if to trust site MuseAndaMuse, the attack of the USA and Britain to Iraq that has led to the group decision to make more apocalyptic and tragic sounding was the reason. For this purpose were remixed some orchestral parties on purpose shading them and to add dramatic character. More real is simply change of moods of Metta and incessant depressions. On album Absolution which has left in September, 2003 transition from a storm of emotions which filled the previous albums Muse to more weighed and thin lyrically-depressive moods is swept obviously up. It is represented to the most probable that Metta had problems with self-identification as a result of sharply increased popularity. Knowingly the basic problem which brings to it Muse, Mett names a total absence of normal private life. Women look at it as on a star, instead of as on the usual provincial fellow. It is known only that Mett realised that change of sounding of an album which as a result left, and very much worried how it will be apprehended by listeners.
